Extrusion Machinery
Plastics products made via extrusion include tubes, rods, window frames, synthetic lumber, films, sheets, weatherstripping and a wide range of other profiles. Extrusion machinery involves a screw to which plastic flakes or pellets are added through a hopper. The mechanical force of the screw along with external heating elements heat up the plastic as it travels the length of the screw. At the end of the screw, the plastic is forced out through a die to create the expected profile shape. Advantages include high speed and volumes at a relatively low cost and wide-ranging versatility.
